Rajesh. Aren't they the same thing? Basically allowing external access to internal web apps using rewriting.
I'm afraid your question re rewriting itself, may I simply refer you to the APM configuration guides? They'll have more info than we'll be able to post here.

I referred few articles where it is mentioned that Portal access is for accessing internal webservers with rewrites, if needed whereas Application access is for accessing apps such as RDP. Pls correct me, if I am wrong.
I worked on Bluecoat Reverse Proxy where we have to write rewrite policy explicitly for each and every URL. In f5, I referred some links where they mentioned that using default rewrite profile and creating portal access policy ( by referring only external host name )is enough to achieve rewrite.
Is my understanding correct ? or explicitly we have to mention both external URL and Internal URL ? . If so, where we can point external URL to internal URL. Thank you

for simple applications you can also use the minimal patching mode (portal application, resource configuration) you have configuration fields for the internal and external host.

@Amolari:
Thank you for writing here.
@ Nathan: Yeah. You are correct buddy. It's named as portal access in 11.x version whereas it's web application access in 10.x version. I am bit confused by reading both the documents :) .
Anyways, I thank both of you to help me here.
