Difference between PAM and APM authentication?
Hi F5 support,
Can you please answer me to a question what is difference between PAM authentication and APM authentication. PAM is module in LTM and APM is separate module but both are used for authentication. So, what is difference and when is used PAM and when APM? Do we need APM if we can use PAM for authentication on F5?

Hi,
BigIP uses PAM to authenticate administrators on linux system.
APM (Access Policy Manager) is an authentication module for connections going through virtual servers.

Actually I would like to know answer what is difference in authentication of network traffic when we use authentication profiles from LTM and when use APM access profiles with defined authentication mechanism, can we use both to authenticate user access to internal server resources?

LTM authentication profiles are legacy profiles working with ACA license (Advanced Client Authentication)!
This license is not available anymore because of APM!
