DHCP relay on LTM viprion vcmp guest version 12.1.6

I am trying to set up a dhcp relay as documented in https://techdocs.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/ltm-implementations-12-1-0/22.html

We are trying to PXE boot a Redhat 7 linux vm on vmware vsphere.

The f5 dhcp relay does assign an IP address but then times out because it cannot find the tftp kickstart bootp server.

The tftp bootp server is not behind the f5 ltm but is on the campus network.

    What's in the DHCP response to the RHEL-7 client? tcpdump the reply and make sure (You can use wireshark to decode it) that the option to tell the client where the tufts server is has been included correctly. (Option 66 'server name' or Option 150 'server address')

     

    Is the failure because the RHEL-7 doesn't know where to get the file? Or because it can't route to the server? Or something else?
