Datagroup use in a health monitor

Hi all, I'm setting up a new health monitor and iRule which is updated as the version of application under it changes. To save on multiple changes each time I was wondering if its possible to set up a datagroup with the version in and have that used in the health monitor send string? The iRule is easy, but not come across this for a monitor.
