Create Sync group for certain partitions
Hello all,
I'm looking for some guidance on how to setup a sync group for certain partitions on our F5s. First let me set the scene: we have 2 sync-failover groups; one for internal apps and one for external apps. A total of 4 separate F5 appliances (2 per group). We have 2 new F5s in our disaster recovery site located at another location. The thought was thrown around to partition the new F5s so both internal and external apps can run on one appliance and then a sync-failover group be created for the 2 new F5s.
I know you can create a sync only group between the F5s at our main data center and the ones at our DR site but is it possible to sync only certain partitions? So on our new F5s we could sync the internal app partition with our internal apps F5s and our external app partition with our external apps F5s.
Yes i know convention would say use one of the new F5s for internal and the other for external but our higher ups want a backup for the backup.
Thanks in advance for any and all replies!

Hello,
As far as I know, Sync-only for LTM objects operates at a folder level. You can use it with partitions or not, but the caveat is that all of the things that would sync need to be created in or moved into the folder.
See the manual BIG-IP Device Service Clustering: Administration Working with Device Groups to get more information on implementing this solution. Information on working wind folders and moving objects: BIG-IP System: Folders Administration Working with Folders
Thanks.
