Feb 28, 2016CPU Usage get high after applying iRule to Virtual Server
Hi, This is the DNS use case, whenever i am trying to use iRule to block malicious domain name, the CPU usage get high after applying rule on virtual server upto 4%-5% above on each Virtual.
The rule contains two If and one switch condition (DNS request & response). Can anyone suggest to optimizing the rule.
Thanks...Jay

- We've noted the same sorts of things with our DNS iRules.... See if you can optimise code, if not, have a look at the stats using iRule editor.

I've checked the iRule stats and try to compute the CPU use by iRule, it was very minimal. but i don't know while running iRule on the appliance, the CPU got increase upto 20-30% min. There is three event in the iRule i.e. DNS_Request, DNS_Response and RULE_INIT - The_Bhattman

Can you post your Irule....Perhaps the smart folks on the forum can validate if the iRule is causing a significant increase. Also what version of code you are using. Cross-Post from https://devcentral.f5.com/questions/dns-recursion-desire-restriction-and-blacklist
