Connection calculation in a topology

Hi All,

I'm newbies in F5 network. Can I know how to calculate connections in a topology? From my understanding, a connection is calculated from one node to another. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I know this is a silly question but I just want to make sure my understandings.

  • Your question is not very clear - can you clarify it?

    Are you asking about DNS/GTM Topology balancing?

    Hi S Blakely,

    Thank for your reply.

    What I tried to asked is the connection between one node to another node in network diagram is consider a connection? I know it sounds a bit silly but I just wants to make sure my understandings

  • In my opinion, not really.

    For a Network diagram, I would call the connection between two objects a "link" - the point-to-point transport over which network data can flow.

    A connection is a tcp connection between two devices established on

    source ip:source port -> destination ip:destination port

    Connections may traverse a number of links and intervening devices (bridges/routers/switches/etc)

    I hope this is clear.

    I get it already. Thanks for your explanation.
