NimbostratusConfiguring high availability on two 8900 LTM's
I am working with two 8900 LTM's that are configured as an active/standby setup. They are sharing a floating IP but I wanted to find out about setting them up so that if one system goes down (either for maintanence or a real issue) that not only will they failover but also share client's session information so that they do not loose their connections because of the failover. I saw information that it is possible to configure a shared mac and to either share or mirror session information but I cannot find any information about how to actually configure them for that.

You need to configure MAC masquerade and connection mirroring. Below are the KBs.

shaggyA few notes regarding connection mirroring -
- It doesn't work with virtual servers using client-ssl and/or server-ssl profiles - SOL7216: The BIG-IP system does not support connection mirroring for SSL terminated traffic
- Depending on system load/number of connections to a VS, connection-mirroring can be CPU intensive. I generally only use it on applications with long-lived connections. Protocols such as HTTP are very resilient and generally involve many requests, and are therefore not always good candidates for connection-mirroring
