Configuring an F5 iRule to Check for Multiple Server IPs/Ports

Hi there ... I have a scenario where client http requests are load-balanced across 2 members of the pool. Currently, a pool member is checked based on a single port number e.g. 5000. However, I need the member to be checked based on the availability of 2 ports i.e. these 2 ports must be responsive before traffic is redirected to a member. In other words, each member run 2 apps on 2 separate ports and both apps must be running for it to accept traffic.

Can be this done and how at a conceptual level. I should be able to figure our the details.

Thanks in advance.

  • This functionality is built-in. You simply change your pool's monitor settings to include an additional monitor. The default Availability Requirement for the pool requires all monitors to be successful so both the 'port 5000' monitor and the additional one have to succeed.
