Close wait and Fin wait time value.

Hi everyone,   Just want to ask if there is a prod. impact if I change default value of CLOSE and FIN into a higher value.   Thanks.

If you increase Close Wait you are increasing the amount of time the connection stays in LAST_ACK. i.e. the time you wait for an ACK after you have sent a FIN. Why would you want to wait longer?

 

If you increase FIN WAIT you are increasing the amount of time the connection stays in the FIN_WAIT state before before closing. The time the server waits after receiving the ACK from the FIN that was sent. Why would you want to wait longer?

Hi Parker, do you have any scenario when I can use this option? I just wander why F5 put this option TImewait and Finwait.
