Oh, my apologies, it looks like I mis-read your original post.
I just checked with one of our developers, and there currently no way to apply persistence to the clone pool regardless of persistence settings on the server pool.
Apparently you could implement persistence by directly selecting the clone pool member, but I'm still waiting for details about how to pull out the clone pool info & force the selection. Will post back when I know more.
