Check out the F5 LB Provider for SCVMM 2012!
Hi Everyone!
System Center 2012 RC has been announced! Now that Microsoft has officially opened the launch window for System Center 2012, we would like to hear about your experience with the F5 Load Balancer provider for System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) 2012.
Our provider installs on a VMM server, enabling users to:
-
Include basic load-balancing services as part of a VMM application service template within a private cloud
-
Delegate these services to appropriate IT personell so that they can be included in an application service deployment
-
Specify the min-max range of nodes allowed within a load-balancing pool
-
Test connectivity and provider interfaces before launching a VM creation task
-
Automatically configure BIG-IP to provide load-balancing to specified VMs when they are deployed.
If this capability sounds interesting to you, please try it out and reply to this post to let us know what you think.
Thank you!

Hi James. Do you have the up to date version of F5 LB Provider that support SCVMM 2016? Thanks.

Has anyone else seen this issue? If so, read on for two helps:
After running the LB provider msi installer on W2K8 R2 SP1 64-bit, F5 does not appear in the list of available load balancers in VMM. Using the installer "repair" feature confirms the default install directory is \Windows\SysWOW64 and the LB provider files did, indeed install.
1. Please restart VMM (can be done from command line by stopping then restarting "VMMservice"
2. If the issue persists, you may try moving the LB provider folder and all the install files to windows\system32. Then create these to reg keys manually (obviously, be careful with modifiying the registry and do this on your test system first):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager Server\Configuration Providers\{AE7C2456-E475-488C-A835-473115E5C13E}] "Description"="F5 Networks,Inc"

FYI, I had to follow your subsequent instructions in order to get the provider to show up in SCVMM, it didn't show up after installing and then re-starting the VMM services and console. - jameshendergartHistoric F5 AccountHi Jerry. Thanks for letting us know. You should see an update to the provider coming out this week that corrects a setup issue we've found that is similar to your experience. If we can ask you to wait a couple days we'll post an update for you to try. Also, can you verify which version of BIG-IP you're running against? Is it v10.x or v11.x Thanks. James

We are seeing an issue when trying to deploy with a LB. The error showing up in SCVMM is:

Recommended Action
Check the documentation for the configuration provider or contact the publisher support
I tried deleting the pool and virtual server and then restarting the job, but it just came back with the same error. Any ideas? It seems like it's trying to create the pool twice for some reason. - Owais_Shaikh_13

The link you provided does not work. I have been trying to download the provider with no luck. Can you please let me know where to download it from? The link you provided downloads a zip file containing a text file called F5LoadBalancerPowerShellSetup-214-x64 and in it the only thing written is whats given below. The below link that the file contains is also broken. The current version of this offering is located here: http://links.f5.com/OTwtQJ - jbrake30_117694

RequiredAssemblies = "LBInterfaces.dll" in the powershell module file is causing me some heartburn. I don't see the .dll file anywhere after the powershell module installs. Am I missing something?
