Check LTM pool with GTM iRule?

Hi folks,

 

 

Is there a way with an iRule on GTM to check if a certain LTM pool is not available, and re-route traffic to a GTM in another DC? We have an LTM iRule checking URI and sending traffic to diff pools. As far as I understand there is a way to send a "reset" back to GTM to interpret as failure, in case the selected LTM pool is down. It would be nice to save a round trip to LTM, but I'm not sure if that's feasible.
