Aug 18, 2009Changing Health Monitors
Lets say I have a server with a current health monitor which reports the server as being up. If I want to swap this health monitor with a new one, once I add it in and hit update, will the server remain as up and receive traffic as normal until the new monitor has time to do it's checks or will the server go down and stop traffic again until the new monitors checks are done?
This of course is if you wanted to do a staight cut over of monitors, you could always add them both in and have it set to be up so if atleast 1 monitor is up then it's all good..

You should be able to add in the new monitor. Manke sure that the pool is set to be marked as up if "any" monitors succeed (under the advanced config option). - BlueFort_10580

Just to clarify that, set "Availability Requirement" to "At Least 1" ! - dennypayne

The new monitor will actually be in "Unknown" state until it succeeds or fails. LTM will attempt to send traffic to nodes in an Unknown state, so the net effect is that yes, the server should continue to receive traffic unless the new monitor fails (which will take 16 seconds at the default timeout setting). - Forsaken_104807

Thanks guys, my question was directed at doing a straight cut over of the health monitors. All good now.
