Apr 28, 2010Changing active iRules
I am new to F5, and I'm trying to develop some fairly basic functionality via iRules. I'm running into a problem where I create an iRule, then apply to a vserver, but if I make any changes to that iRule, it does not actually take effect on that vserver.
Even if I completely delete the iRule, the vserver still runs that iRule when I hit it. Obviously the bigIP is caching the information somewhere. Is there any way to clear this?
Version 10.1, LTM 3900
Thanks,
Josh

If you are running your Load Balancers in pairs you will want to make sure that the changes are being sync'd to the Active Load Balancer. Any iRule changes should be sceen as soon as they are saved. To my knowledge the F5 LTM will only cache content, not iRules or any settings.
Your browser might also be where things are being cached. You can try retesting in a new browser after changes have been made (I'd also recommend downloading and installing HTTPWatch (Basic - Free at http://www.httpwatch.com). It will show you exactly what is going on, including if you are displaying the page from cache. Fiddler2 will do the same thing.)
