It's a late response, I guess, but I figured someone else could benefit from it anyways.
When talking about a Generic Host, yes, it's OK and even usual for a Virtual Server to have the same IP as the Server object itself.
Why the red diamond? Keep in mind that your GTM device(s) might not be the one(s) monitoring your server at a given time. GTM can delegate the monitoring of Generic Hosts to other BIG-IP devices.
SOL15408 gives a very good overview of the process. Then, you might want to create a Prober Pool to monitor your Generic Host.

Hi Gregory,
My server only listens on port 2002, so I have configured it as generic host on the GTM with TCP as health monitor, and added the same IP Address on the Virtual side of it [correct?]. On "Service Port" shall I type in explicitly "2002"?
