Cannot install F5 VPN Driver on windows 8.1
Hi, I have Windows 8.1 and I'm trying to connect to a BIG-IP version 11.3.0 Build 3144 of F5. I was able to connect before, but suddenly I had issues connecting to it, and seems like there have not been changes to the server installation. So, I removed the VPN stuff on my PC by using recommendations in the F5 Q&A section, so by removing all F5* files, looking into the registry and so on. I'm now trying to connect, but I don't see the F5 Network Device in my Device Manager and if I use the BIG-IP Edge Client I get an error like VPN Adapter File not found. Could you please help me in solving this issue?
Thanks.

Hi Daniele,
Based on the matrix your version should work for 8.1

I would recommend downloading the f5wininfo.exe tool and using that to cleanup any corruption you have by removing files directly and messing with the registry. You can download the f5wininfo.exe from the BigIP. Please see the following solution.

Hi, thanks for getting back on this. I followed this steps: 1. Removed all components by using f5wininfo.exe and restarted the PC 2. Re-installed BIG-IP Edge Client and restarted the machine
I still have the same issue: VPN adapter file not found.
Is there a way to download the network adapter driver and force installation?
Thanks.

Can you verify that all the windows services are started that need to be? Specifically check "Remote Access Connection Manager" and "Telephony" (along with all dependencies). Also... you might try to run IE "as Admin" before connecting to see if it will force the install.

Hi, thanks for the support. I had to reinstall Windows 8.1 over my existing installation because my Remote Access Connection Manager was not starting up, so there may have been something corrupted in the system. The VPN is working correctly now.
Thanks.
