Can you set the Monitor go out the Float IP address

Is is possible to have the monitoring go out the float IP instead of the Self IP? I have to NAT this for each pool member and if I can use the Float IP then I only have to do one NAT for each member instead of 2 (one for each Self IP)

Thanks

  • Actually I would need 3 NATs. One for each self IP and one for the Float for the data traffic going through the F5.

  • I don't think you can, and it doesn't make sense to. Both LTMs in a pair need to monitor members, however the floating IP is only owned by the active device.

OK, both need to monitor the pool members, but why ACTIVE is checking them twice? Once using self-ip and second using floating? Once is not enough?

Upps, sorry. My mistake in IP's - of course there is no packets coming with floating IP, only with self IP - but from each F5 box in cluster config.
