Can the starting/stopping of the BigEdge VPN client be scripted

Can the starting/stopping of the BigEdge VPN client be scripted on Windows and/or Linux?

 

I am working on a project where data is collected during the day. During the late evening & night I would like to run a script which starts a VPN connection using the BigEdge Client, runs a transfer process, and then shuts down the VPN connection.
