  • You can prepare for the F5-CA exam mainly by using the official exam blueprint and doing some hands-on practice in a BIG-IP lab (the VE trial works fine). Go through each blueprint topic and make sure you can actually configure it on the box, that’s usually the most helpful.

About your question: “Firewall Rules for Self-IPs” usually refers to the Port Lockdown / access-control settings on a Self-IP. It’s not a general “network firewall” — it controls what traffic the BIG-IP itself will accept on that Self-IP (like iQuery, SNMP, HTTPS, etc.). For the exam, you should understand how to secure Self-IPs and when to use Allow None, Allow Default, or Allow Custom.

For study material, focus on the official F5 docs on Self-IPs and Port Lockdown, the F5-CA blueprint, and use practice questions from trusted resources like CertBoosters. Setting up a small lab and going through these practice questions is usually enough to understand what the exam is asking.
