Can I use an LTM HTTP Monitor to monitor a DNS Entry?

Problem is that I have to use the F5 to Load balance outgoing internet traffic out of two firewalls. I've set up a group with both firewalls in it and a virtual server set as a Performance (Layer4) ...

You should be able to do this with an external monitor. However, another option would be to create a helper-VIP on which you can then run an iRule that checks the remote location. The HTTP-monitor can then simply be pointed at this helper-VIP.
