Can a Active device UCS works for Standby unit.

Hello All,

I have a situation where my standby device has a issue and needs to be replaced, can a active device UCS be used in the new replaed standby device ?

What additional configuration changes may need to make in the standby unit , to make it similar as existing before the device replaced.

Thanks... Sam

usually no, as the self-IP addresses, hostname, device-cert, etc. will be different.

check out SOL13551: Configuring a replacement BIG-IP device after an RMA when no UCS archive is available - https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/13000/500/sol13551.html

    in a nutshell:

    1. Configure networking options for the management interface
    2. Activate the license for the new hardware
    3. Configure networking options for the TMM interfaces
    4. Set Device Connectivity options for the replacement BIG-IP device
    5. Re-configure the existing Device Trust and Device Group on an authority device
    6. Sync from active-to-standby
