bigip working with only management route

I am working on a bigip that has one vserver, and two servers behind it - all in the same subnet. It's using snat/automap and is working fine. I noticed that it does not have any routes, just a management network default gateway. Clients from all different subnets are connecting to it.

How is this working? Shouldn't traffic destined to a vserver never use the management route?

  • Hello,

You probably have the "Auto last Hop" feature activated that allow a response packet to go to the same gateway that the request packet come from.

Auto last hop is enabled by default. You can view this settings in "System >> Device"
