BIG IP DNS VIRTUAL SERVER SWITCHOVER

Hey guys,

I have two Data centers, each with 1 BIG-IP DNS/GTM and a pair of LTM. The GTM are set in a synch group, and two pools (one per DC) and 3 VS per pool.

Scenario: lets say the LDNS/client sends a request to the GTM for test1.com and the GTM picks pool1 and then VS1. Respond with test1.com is 1.1.1.1. The LDNS/client will have this entry in its cache.

Question: what happens when if VS1 goes down but the client still has that entry in its cache? Is there a way the GTM can update the client? Or does the GTM fails over the connection?

  • Hi Daud,

You can play with the TTL on the GTM to limit the outage, check here how to proceed
