BIG-IP DNS monitor
I am little bit confused regarding BIG-IP DNS monitor:-
Let's assume that I have two conditions:-
Condition 1:-
While adding BIG-IP LTM, disabled auto-discovery. Added virtual server manually and called a monitor (HTTP), to monitor the status of VIP of BIG-IP LTM. what does exactly take place in this situation (gtmd, big3d communication would come into picture or not?
Condition 2:-
While adding BIG-IP LTM, enabled auto-discovery but no monitor has been associated with auto discovered virtual server. At what frequency BIG-IP LTM would update BIG-IP DNS regarding the status of VIP? will there be any probe sent out by BIG-IP DNS?
Please suggest

I'm simplifying here a bit, but in general, it is best to let BIG-IP LTM monitor its resources and then use iQuery to communicate virtual server status to BIG-IP DNS systems. It does not matter if you add the virtual server to the BIG-IP DNS system manually or using auto discovery. If the virtual server is being monitored on the BIG-IP LTM system (through its pool members), then it is not necessary to have additional monitors defined on the virtual server on BIG-IP DNS - especially if the monitor tests are essentially the same on both BIG-IP DNS and BIG-IP LTM, such as might be the case with an HTTP monitor.
