ASM and Chat application

Has anyone protected a chat application with ASM? Wouldn't there be a challenge with blocked requests in showing the block page?

chat applications normally use websockets which are supported by ASM https://techdocs.f5.com/en-us/bigip-14-1-0/big-ip-asm-implementations-14-1-0/securing-applications-that-use-websocket.html
