Nimbostratusbtw, i observed and tried a few things via a serial connection from another server and later from a terminal once we took the unit back to the office. the reboot happens truly at random. sometimes while kernel is loading, other times the login prompt comes up and then reboot happens. i loaded the diagnostic tools and it rebooted so clearly it's not a software issue.
