Aug 13, 2009Add Service to Services List in GUI?
Is there any way to add a service to the System Services List in the GUI?
For instance we use the alertd service to monitor our pool nodes and send an email if nodes go down.
However when we do scheduled maintenance we have to SSH to the BIG-IP and use the BigStart stop alertd command so that we do not get spammed while we are actively working on the nodes. Would be great to add the alertd service to the System Services List so that we could Enable, Disable or Restart alertd from the GUI.
Anyone have any ideas.
I have done some serious digging and it appears that the Services list may be hard-coded into the
/usr/local/www/tmui/WEB-INF/classes/web/tmui/system/service/list_jsp.class file.
Thanks,
Jeff

I don't think so. You could open a case with F5 Support and ask them to consider including the ability to add new services to the GUI or to add alertd specifically. You could potentially write a simple iControl app to do it--but I'm guessing it would be easier to just use the command line. - Jeff_47746

Aaron Thanks for the reply. Anyone else out there have any idea if this is a planned feature in a future release? - hoolio

You may get an unofficial response here, but if you want F5 product development to consider the request, you'd need to open a case with F5 Support and make an official request. - Jeff_47746

Ok thanks for the heads up.
