Action on Service Down Feature
Hi, i have a question about Action on Service Down feature in pool. I read the following article which is very useful but got some questions about it ;
- As i understand, reselect is not good option if your vserver has address and port translation is enabled. So that Reject option can be a good choice for resetting active connections immediately when the backend server is unresponsive. Am i right ?
- If the reject option is selected, what about the new connections to the unresponsive pool member ?
Regards
1) yep, reject will quickly cause session to terminate and then start again.
2) from the K article: https://support.f5.com/csp/article/K15095
"While a pool member is marked down, the system does not send any new connections to that pool member."

Thanks Boneyard,
in my second question, i mean how F5 knows a pool member marked down before monitor timeout or interval ? for example ;
10:00 - monitor shows up member 10:01 - server had failure and service goes down. ( What about Active connections ?) 10:02 - New Connection has arrived. (I thinks in this point, there is a risk the connection can go failure server)
that the F5 can't know, it knows once the monitor determines it is down. that is what this feature is meant for.
the time between the server really going down and monitor seeing it as down is a time in which weird things can happen, but you can't do much about that, except setting your health monitors very strict. but then you might risk lots of extra traffic.
