Hello, When a config is changed often, and by different teams, it is not unusual that services do not get removed properly. How to know whether a node is not a member of a pool? If a certificate file is not used by an SSL profile? If a pool is not used by a virtual server? If a VLAN is never designated by VS or pool? Is there any tool you know to identify "useless" or obsolete data in a config. thank you very much Alberto1.6KViews0likes14CommentsWhat CLI tools are in your toolbox for testing or troubleshooting application deployments on BIG-IP?
In trying to nail down a rate limiting solution, I reached back for my trusty apache-bench utility, ab, to push some load with concurrency at the virtual server. But...in today's SSL everywhere, discovered that ab does not have a flag to ignore SSL errors, and I don't have valid certs in my local lab, so I couldn't use that to push load. In a quick search I found hey, installed that on my ubuntu test box, and seems to be a reasonable replacement (see below). But that got me thinking...what cli tools are out there for test/troubleshooting that I'm missing out on? jrahm@unuc:~$ hey -n 10000 -c 5 https://172.16.101.50/ Summary: Total: 8.2474 secs Slowest: 0.0510 secs Fastest: 0.0023 secs Average: 0.0041 secs Requests/sec: 1212.5047 Total data: 20000 bytes Size/request: 2 bytes Response time histogram: 0.002 [1] | 0.007 [9956] |■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ 0.012 [36] | 0.017 [2] | 0.022 [0] | 0.027 [0] | 0.032 [0] | 0.036 [0] | 0.041 [0] | 0.046 [0] | 0.051 [5] | Latency distribution: 10% in 0.0032 secs 25% in 0.0036 secs 50% in 0.0040 secs 75% in 0.0045 secs 90% in 0.0050 secs 95% in 0.0055 secs 99% in 0.0065 secs669Views3likes1CommentWhich Tools for Testing ?
Hi all Whilst reading through some of the profiles on an LTM, I thought to myself I've never really tested a lot of this stuff. For example, the Fast HTTP profile claims to be faster that a standard HTTP profile, however, at this moment in time I am simply just taking F5's word for much of this. Clearly this isn't the best way to learn. Can anyone recommend any free or low cost tools I can use for different test scenarios & further my understanding of the myriad of profiles? These could include: Sending large amounts of traffic through the LTM, for example to simulating a DoS attack. Generating traffic from a large variety of source IP address. Measuring throughput, delay etc. Bear in mind this is all to be done on a home PC which I understand limits my options. I'm sure there exists many enterprise-level tool to do the same thing, and cost a lot more! Thank you.Solved564Views0likes3CommentsTCP Ping Functionality on BIG-IP Appliance
