Dears, if anyone used F5 LTM with Cisco ACI, I have just one question when the ACI makes Multi-site and the server replicated to the other datacenter with the same IP, how can I configure this in the LTM or if this require me to make any change on the F5 LTM25Views0likes0CommentsWhy is an Active-Active configuration not recommended by F5?
I was considering configuring our F5 LTMs in an Active/Active state within Cisco ACI but I read here that this type of configuration is not recommended without having at least one F5 in standby mode. "F5 does not recommend deploying BIP-IP systems in an Active-Active configuration without a standby device in the cluster, due to potential loss of high availability." Why is this? With two F5s in Active/Active mode, they should still fail over to each other if one happens to go down. Would it take longer for one device to fail over to another who is active rather than being truly standby?1.1KViews0likes5CommentsLoad balancing between an external network and an EPG in ACI.
In all of the documentation I see for setting up a service graph in ACI, it's always between two EPGs. What if the "consumer" or "client" is really going to be external users outside of the fabric that would communicate in via a L3 Out? A L3 Out is not an EPG so how do I load balance between an external network and an EPG?354Views0likes1CommentDNS Load Balancing in Cisco ACI
Hi all, does anyone know of any documentation that exists for DNS Load Balancing within Cisco ACI? I see that it's recommended now to use the iApp wizard for DNS Servers but I'm thinking when I create a Service Graph (Virtual Server) within ACI, I'm not going to be able to use the iApp within the APIC GUI. Does anyone have any prior experience with setting this up? Thanks!422Views0likes2CommentsIntegration question: Cisco ACI with f5 in unmanaged mode
(knowledge level : rudimentary :: first aci <-> f5 integeration project of my life:: reaching out to the community since everyone seems to be baffled) Need help in getting a stalled project through. trying to reach out the community to identify any direct Cisco ACI + f5 technical material to understand and configure f5 in unmanaged mode. There are quite a few links dealing in more complex vcmp/virtual and other issues. The work done so far: expected target architecture : Use f5 in unmanaged mode with ACI. With ACI expected to act like a regular switch and not be bothered with l4-7 et al. f5 configs: single physical f5 device : Port 2.1 and 2.2 : portchanneled to ACI 9K leaf switches : trunk is green/up! When you talk to Cisco as soon as they here f5 - the immediate jump is to configure l4-7. Q: When f5 is treating ACI as a switch how do i configure so that is it not bothered with l4-7 et al. Any discussion around this to further expand will be highly appreciated. Thanks,604Views0likes2CommentsIn one-arm mode, do my pool member servers have to be in the same network as the vIP/self-IP?
Reading through the LTM Implementation Worksheet and it says: "In a one-arm network, the Virtual IP (VIP) is on the same IP address space as the pool member servers. A one-arm network typically requires the source IP to be SNAT'ed to the floating IP address of the LTM when the packet is sent to the server. In a one-arm configuration, the server's default gateway is a network device such as a switch or router." Is this the only way or can I have my pool members in a different network/subnet as my self-IP and vIP?255Views0likes3Comments
