Happy Star Trek Day!

Today is Star Trek Day! I know there's got to be at least one or two Trekkies in the community so let's celebrate 56 years of Star Trek together.

Get in the comments and tell us your favorite Star Trek series and favorite quote (if you have one). I love Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) ever since I devoured my dad's TNG VHS tapes one summer as a teenager. I was hooked.

My favorite quote is from Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life."

Even if we try our best and do everything right, something unexpected can happen to push us off course. Losing is a part of life, just like winning. It's ok to fail and learn from it.

Have a great Star Trek Day, everyone!

  • The original series - is nostalgic for me. I don't think it "made" me like tech or science or exploration it was simply an easy starting point to think about all the cool sci-fi concepts surrounding the sorts of things I already gravitated (no pun intended) towards.

My brother and I used to incorporate the Kirk fight moves in our games as children. Often calling out "Captain Kirk" as we did some iconic move.

I guess we missed our calling, there are now entire college level courses taught on the subject.

  • Ahyes, the good classics, or the near future...?

I was too young to enjoy the original series, but very much enjoyed NextGen and Voyager for sure!

...and very much all the spoofs from it!
