When i get a link that a thread has been updated it would be nice that the new posts in that thread have a soft background color to differentiate them from all the existing posts. This is only visible to me and once I have viewed it the first time it would not appear again as I have displayed the thread already.

Status changed:NewtoInvestigatingYeah - that would be nice. There is already some functionality driving the red line at the extreme left of unread posts but...it is unclear to me (yet) whether the current CSS can be extended to the entire post (easily or not).
Will take a look.
