Agreed, and I hope that I brought that up in the "A Job Worth Doing" section, but I think perhaps you're reading me as more absolutist than I am. I think that there is far too much dumping exceptions to logs, I do not think there will ever be NO dumping to logs. But it should indicate a serious unanticipated problem, not a standard practice.
