Remote authentication does not work with version 11.5 as of today from what i was told by F5 support: "I did find a known issue (ID471136) that mentions that "REST Framework (including iControl/REST) does not work with BIG-IP remote AuthN providers" so this is probably what you're running into. Reading over that bug report it looks like we changed this in version 12 and in an upcoming hot fix for 11.5.4."
