WIDE IP VS EXTERNAL_DNS QUERIES IN GTM
Hi Team,
As per our existing setup, our GTM is acting as a secondary authorative server forwarding traffic to external_ldns(windows DNS server).
1.As per this, we created a listener which is the same self-IP created for the GTM Box. 2.Into the zone> zone-list, we created the xyz.com where its mapped to external name-server or external_ldns server. 3.DNSExpress is enabled into the DNS profile also, so logic is when 2nd time the same request come to the GTM, the GTM itself can reply back without having to ask back the same to the Primary authoritative DNS server( windows DNS server).
Question is ; If we create a WIDEIP into the GTM, whether it will override all the configuration, say GTM will process the WIDEIP without having it to go to the external_ldns ?
Kindly confirm.
Thanks and Regards Parveez

WideIPs take first precedence, so if the DNS query matches a WideIP GTM will process the request and answer authoritatively and never connect to your backend LDNS server.
