Wide Area IP translate
Hey All, I've spend a fair number of hours trying to get to the bottom of this issue, but im pretty new to F5 so hoping you guys can help me out.
Scenario I have two datacentres (lets call them DC A and DC B). I have one Virtual Server at each DC called Web_ServerA (DC A) and Web_serverB (DC B). I want to load balance between Web_ServerA at DC A, Web_serverB at DC B. I thought I had this working by configuring a Wide IP with Web_ServerA and Web_ServerB as pool members I am experiencing the following issue.
When performing an nslookup on the listener address at DC A, resolves to the Web_ServerA public IP (great), but the Web_ServerB private LTM IP (not so great). The reverse is happening when I perform an nslookup on the listener address at DC B (Web_ServerA = Private IP, Web_ServerB = Public IP).
Any ideas what im doing wrong. Is there an irule that can fix this, or a better way to do achieve what I want.
Thanks

What is your F5 setup? You have F5 DNS and LTM on the same devices in each DC?
This sounds like a feature of the F5 DNS with translation addresses.
The idea being if a query comes from within a Data Centre then the real IP address is returned else the translation address is returned.
