NimbostratusVirtual Server State Unknown
When I create a virtual service via an iApp and i don't create a pool within the iApp I only use the pools that are associated with the local traffic policy I have assigned then the virtual server status shows "unknown", but if I build the same connectivity via an iRule and select the iRule within the iApp the virtual server status shows up. How can I get the virtual server status to show up when using a local traffic policy without a default pool assigned to the virtual server.

this is expected behaviour, see The BIG-IP system may not reflect the expected status for virtual servers that use iRules, HTTP classes or local traffic policies to select a pool.
Hopefully this helps, but conscious it still begs the question "why?". I can't answer that one though :-)
