url is too long - CMPID advertising tracking

I am having a problem with a URL being blocked by my F5's because the URL is too long.   What is really happening is the URL is short but then there is an advertising tracking code appended to it ...

OK, so it's the query length (everything after the ?) (rather than the URL length) that is causing this violation. You need to edit your policy, go to Configuration > Advanced and find and modify the setting for 'Illegal query string length'. You can turn this off I guess or just enter a value that will stop causing you issues.

 

You could also use an iRule to get rid of the query entirely but I'd say thats not ideal and makes things more complex.
