Updating Geolocation Database

In the config utility, under System:Configuration:Device:General there is a button labeled: "Click to reload the geolocation data files." and the accompanying help states "Click Reload to load the geolocation database files contained in the /GeoIP directories." In addition, this document (http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/11000/100/sol11176.html) describes a procedure to update the GeoIP files, but does not include the aforementioned button located in the config utility.

Is this simply two ways to accomplish the same thing, or are both of these steps necessary to update the geolocation database?
