Two Sharepoint 2007, RAM Cache and WAM Questions

I have two questions concerning the Sharepoint 2007 Deployment Guide. We are currently running version 9.4.4 Build 73.1 Hotfix 1 on our BIG-IP 6400 and we are liscensed for the Web Accelerator. I have read the release notes and the Known Issues regarding the build that we are running and there are two Known Issues that conflict with the Deployment Guide recommendations ("I think" disclaimer). The Known Issues are:

RAM Cache functionality and the WebAccelerator system (CR61475)

When the WebAccelerator system is licensed and enabled on the BIG-IP system, do not enable the RAM Cache feature in an HTTP profile that you associate with a virtual server handling the accelerated traffic. Enabling the RAM Cache feature in this situation can have an adverse effect on that traffic.

RAM cache for HTTP profiles (CR54077)

If you create an HTTP profile that uses the RAM cache feature, and you configure the URI Caching attribute with an empty URI Exclude List, the BIG-IP system caches data from all URIs. To work around this issue, you can create a data group (class) of cacheable items and use the commands CACHE::enable or CACHE::disable in an iRule. For an example of a workaround for this issue, see Configuring RAM cache for an HTTP profile.

Unless I am reading the deployment guide incorrectly then following the guide and enabling the RAM cache might have an adverse effect on traffic? I believe that RAM Cache is enabled by default in the HTTP Acceleration profile that is used as a parent of the custom profile that you create while following the steps in the white paper. Page 1-8...

And as far as the second known issue, could adding an entry to the URI Exclude list also be a viable workaround for the issue?
  • CR61475 is a rather old CR that was created before the creation of the http-acceleration profile. The http-acceleration profile is recommended for WebAccelerator deployments and comes with RAMCache enabled and configured optimally for use with WebAccelerator. Using RAM Cache with WebAccelerator will not have an adverse effect on traffic.

If using WebAccelerator it is recommended to use the default settings withing the http-acceleration profile and not use the URI Caching attributes. Any caching rules should be configured from within the WebAccelerator policy itself.
