Turning off connection mirroring

Does anyone know how gracefully connections will close if you turn off connection mirroring on a VS? Is it subject to your connection reaping settings or is it instantaneous? I need to turn it off as...

It won't (or should I say shouldn't) be disruptive in any way but I'd still recommend an out of core hours change window.
