Trouble shooting SMTP Virtual Server

Good day

 

Please advise how to trouble shoot a Internment connections on SMTP Virtual Server .we have alerts from SCOM servers that emails are failing at certain times .The Virtual Server is up and running ,and do not see any drops on port 25 towards the Virtual server. How can I check the disconnects on the Virtual server ?

    you could look to the stats of the virtual server; if this does not help, I would go and drill down by using tcpdump
