when client request HTTP to server, Big-IP check virtual server configuration, profile to process packet and request to pool, pool run load balancing method to send pool member. But, when Big-IP process profile HTTP Insert Cookie, it using HTTP cookie to choose the same server, thus it no run load balancing method? I don't know this issue.

  • Well that's the purpose of the cookie - to ensure that the pool member chosen matches the one in the cookie, so the cookie setting takes precedence over the lb method if cookie persistence profile is set.

If the pool member in the cookie is down or not in the pool then the incoming cookie is discarded and the load-balancing decision made based on the lbmethod, then a new cookie is inserted in the response.
