I have successfully implemented alerts for individual pool members, but require alerts when an entire pool is down.

Is there any other way to do this other than a (no longer supported) custom SNMP Trap?

    DJ-Boston,

When all members of a pool are marked down you should see the following alert logged in /var/log/ltm:

    Sep 15 11:52:29 tmm tmm[1805]: 01010028:3: No members available for pool my_pool

If there isn't an alert defined in /etc/alertd/alert.conf, you could add a custom alert. I think the statement in SOL3727 about not supporting custom SNMP traps is that F5 won't walk you through or help troubleshoot a custom SNMP trap. They should still work and are used by many customers.

calperin, I think DJ-Boston was asking how he could change the subject of his post.
