Synchronizing ASM Configurations and Policies

I tried to figure out the architecture requirement in order to synchronize ASM configurations and policies.

 

In the new architecture each F5 device is independent and no cluster, and there are more than 10 F5 ASM devices in different data centers.

 

I searched and found this article, but I want to check if the F5 need to be in the same cluster? https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_asm/manuals/product/asm-implementations-11-3-0/1.html
