There is no issue configuring a pool to use the servers in the other datacentre, but I would look at using one pool and priority group activation to simplify the configuration in this respect. Assigning priority group activation and giving the remote datecenter a lower priority will ensure that the F5 only uses the backup nodes in the event that the primary servers become unavailable.
