SSL Handshake failed for TCP

Does disabling Generic alert give anymore info in the local traffic logs? Or some other log? So far I am seeing the same logs of "SSL Handshake Failure for TCP.." and just a handful of messages with slightly more info and a code that I can't match up to the handshake failure log entry (they are not one to one). Also is there a master list of what each of the SSL codes mean? Thanks!
