How do you view the soa records,using TMSH. Zone runner shows that my GTM is the soa but if I query using the DNS Stuff professional toolkit the servers I am retiring are soa.

MVPdoes it have to be tmsh?
every device can say it has SOA records, but if you query from the outside to another device which is still thinking it is the master then things can get weird.
if you do
dig hostname / zone @x.x.x.x
