Mar 24, 2010SNMP mibs for statistics profile.
Hi,
First off I would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole community for the great forum/wiki!
I have used it many times to resolve an issue, 99% of the time the issue had been dealt with already, the best for a forum. ;-)
Now is the 1% :-(
I have created a statistics profile for an iRule, which logs LB_FAILED events.
Everything is working as expected, but I would now like to graph this data via Cacti.
Does anyone know the mib for user created statistic profiles?
I have already downloaded the mibs tarball in the welcome part of the F5, but can not find anything about user stats profiles... :-(
Any Help is much appreciated.
Regards,
Tom

Ok, got a little bit further:snmpwalk -v 2c -c public localhost ltmProfiles 19
This returns a list of all the user stats profiles.
Slight issue the values returned do not match up with the values returned through the web GUI.
If any one can clarify that, would be nice.

Ok further update:
The mibs I found are correct, however the stats are not being updated.
I have confirmed this in our Test F5's running on version 10 that this mib is ok as it returns correct values...
Possible bug in version 9?

Last Update:
This is a known issue in version 9...Grrrr
SNMP queries for ltmUserStatProfileStat values (CR117258)
SNMP queries for ltmUserStatProfileStat values do not return accurate values for user stat profile fields. Instead, the system returns a 0 (zero) or a negative number as the value. There is no workaround for this issue.
Hope this helps someone in my shoes...

Yeah, this was a frustrating issue in 9.4.x. But apparently there was a hotfix for it:

CR117258: SNMP userStatProfileStat table is broken
"userStatProfileStat table is returning incorrect stats counts. To repro, create a simple profile with a couple keys, then do something to increment one of the keys. In this case, instead of returning 1, it is returning the decimal equivalent of 0xffffffff. This is repeatable and used to work on earlier releases. iControl queries return the correct value."
I just had a case with support about retrieving stat profile counters via snmp. It turns out there is a bug which they fixed with a HotFix for me.

Yes, it does look like there's a hotfix for this - I'd open a case and request it, with a reference to this CR.

Hey Matt,
Thanks for confirming. Do you happen to know which version(s) a hotfix has already been built for? I have a customer who is stuck on 9.4.5 for now and would like to poll for stats profile metrics prior to an upgrade.
Thanks, Aaron
